A Review of ESG Performances of the PLCs in the ASEAN Region

The ASEAN 5 Gender Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Research Project

The ASEAN 5 Gender Diversity, Equity and Inclusion research project conducted by Corston-Smith Asset Management, reviewed 3054 companies from 1997-2010 within the main ASEAN nations: Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia.

The purpose of the study was to see how and if women on corporate boards contributed to better performance of public listed companies in these 5 South East Asian nations. The study was published in 2011.

To understand the complex nature of the question, a regression analysis was used to examine the percentage of women on boards of directors against the performance of a company. The performance of each company was measured by 6 specific factors.
